Project Mode

After a day of nothing but eating and relaxing, we (or maybe just I) was in project mode yesterday. We finished up a couple projects off of my to-do list. Of course it took longer than I thought it would, but if felt good to get something accomplished.

Yesterday we finally chose and printed out pictures for the empty picture frames that have been hanging in the stairway for months now. It took a while to go through and find pictures for all the spaces, but it looks so much better now!

With the purchase of the new TV, we had some adjustments to do to our entertainment center. Our old TV was too deep for the back of the entertainment center to fit on, so it’s just been open to the wall until now. It was such a pain to get that pulled out to get behind there and get everything plugged in properly. But since it was pulled out I cleaned the dust off it really good and it looks great to have it put together like it was intended to be!

Then we headed back over to my parents’ house to eat leftovers and play some more Wii games. Today we are just taking it much easier. Neither of us is feeling very well. We are doing nothing but watching football and movies. Hopefully a more restful day will get us feeling back to normal.

Thankful

We enjoyed a great Thanksgiving day with friends and family.  It was quiet and relaxing and we had a great time together.  We went over to my parents’ house.  I love eating holiday meals there because they make all the food the best.  They think I’m just saying that so I don’t have to make it, but it’s true!

They have making turkey dinner down to a science.  Mom had a couple of the dishes prepared the day before, so that they only had to be baked when the turkey came out.  The turkey was already in the oven when we got there.  There was only potatoes, veggies, and gravy left to be made.

While the last of the food preparations were being done, we had a Skype call with my sister, Ashley.  She’s in California for school and was not able to make it home for Thanksgiving.  So we walked the laptop around the house so she could see video of everything that was going on.  Mom and Dad even gave her a virtual video hug.

We were blessed to have our friends Kyle and Gigi over for dinner.  They are such a sweet and fun couple.  Then the Ernst family joined us after dinner for dessert and games.  They are so much fun and full of energy.  The girls did better drawings than the adults and were so cute trying to get us to guess their words.

Shopping Trip

We finally decided it was time to upgrade our TV.  Jesse has been campaigning for a long time to get a new TV, but I didn’t see the need to get rid our TV that was working just fine.  But then it started not working fine.  Something was going wrong with the speakers.  They started making this popping and crackling noise even when the sound was off.  And when the sound was on, it would just get louder as the volume got louder.  So, of course, Jesse decided this was the perfect reason to finally get rid of it.  I’m not so sure Jesse didn’t do something to it to break the speakers… just kidding! 🙂

Anyway, we found a great deal on on a big screen.  Pretty much the biggest TV that could fit in our entertainment center.  We got to the store and told the Sears man the one we wanted.  I was kinda annoyed that he immediately tried to talk us into a different one that was $50 more.  We thought about it for a while and decided to go with our original choice.  We again told the guy the one we wanted and he said “Okay, but I don’t even think we have any of these in stock.”  Maybe he could have told us that before.  I’m thinking it was a little too convenient that the one he was trying to talk us out of was all of a sudden out of stock.  Especially since we saw online that they had several in stock.  He called around to several of Sears to see if any other stores had it in stock… they didn’t.

The purchase

Of course, the sales guy suggested we change our mind to the slightly more expensive one he was trying to sell us in the first place.  Jesse did some last minute research on his phone and determined that one would be just as good.  However, we didn’t want to pay more for it.  Jesse told the guy if he gave it to us for the same price, we would take it tonight and give him the sale.  We win!!  Jesse calculated that with the sale price and the bargaining we got it for 36% off normal price.

Big TV

Jesse is more than happy with his purchase. He was practically bouncing out to the car with excitement. I’m glad he’s happy, he totally deserves it with how hard he has been working the last couple of months.
